Guts and Heart: What Christians can learn from Dan Rather

"I think it's important for the public to know, great reporting starts with a publisher who has guts and an editor who has guts. And the role of Katharine Graham, the late Katharine Graham who owned the Washington Post -- and this is not to be underestimated -- the lady had heart and guts."DAN RATHER

What did Paul, Peter after Pentecost, Martin Luther, CH Spurgeon, and DL Moody have in Common?

The heart and guts to preach the salvation of Christ to all who would listen.

Despite ridicule
Despite fear
Despite rejection
Despite entering unknown territory

Why is that?
What kept them going?

The Holy Spirit that they received by Faith.
They didn't quench the fire of the Holy Spirit's power.

Is the fire of the Holy Spirit in you quenched?

We have a God of Power yet live a life of weakness.

As Paul says in Galatians, 5:7 Ye did run well - In the race of faith. Who hath hindered you in your course, that ye should not still obey the truth?

In my life, I chose to listen to the voices of other people. Rather than the voice of the
Holy Spirit. For some reason, I thought God could not speak through me. I thought if he did
it had to be verified by someone else. All this did was cause pain and stress in my life. The more I stepped away from God's purpose, the unhappier I felt.

So I surrendered to God and asked him to lead me. He started to reveal me to myself and showed me how believing others put them in the position of "God" That's how I quenched the
Holy Spirit's fire within me.

How about you?

Will you allow God to shine a light in your life today? Allow him to reveal the
dark places you're scared to see yourself.

Grab hold to the promises of His Word and claim them for yourself when the
road seems lonely and dark. God does not lie. It isn't His nature. He will not disappoint.
