Obama to America: All things are possible

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Why I'm Voting for Obama

It's been said that you can tell alot about a person by how they treat their mother. I would like to add to that. You can tell alot about a person by what they learned from their mother that they don't want to repeat in their own lives. Obama sets an example in both respects. Taking the best of his mother and taking the hurts that he's experienced in his life and making sure he starts a different legacy for his family.

According to a Time article called "The Story of Barack Obama's mother"
Today Obama is partly a product of what his mother was not. Whereas she swept her children off to unfamiliar lands and even lived apart from her son when he was a teenager, Obama has tried to ground his children in the Midwest. "We've created stability for our kids in a way that my mom didn't do for us," he says. "My choosing to put down roots in Chicago and marry a woman who is very rooted in one place probably indicates a desire for stability that maybe I was missing."
Passing down a legacy that takes the diamonds that our family provided, along with creating the diamonds that were in the rough for the next generation, is what keeps a nation getting better and better.
King David in Psalms said:
That the generation to come might know them (the love, power, and mighty acts of the one True God), even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: Psalm 78:6
This story is a living example of this verse.

Many of us, stay in a fairy tale world of who we wanted our family to be. By doing this, we miss a unique opportunity in our lives that could transform our world.

When our world is transformed, we can transform the world.
I remember telling my mom about 10 years ago that I wanted to be a good mom just like her one day. What she said in response both surprised me and awed me.

"I hope that you will be an even better mom", she said.

That statement brings tears to my eyes still today.

God used that experience to show me that there is courage in our embracing imperfections. Even more courage in expressing them. She was and still is a living example of God's love and power. Both my mom and dad.

Knowing these things from our families allows us to let go of self-defeating patterns that we embraced early on in our lives. Our brains not yet matured tried to make sense of the world in the best ways possible, while being influenced by peers, media, and society.

Each influence had a different requirement for inclusion or acceptance. We developed a pattern of living that best met the needs we had at that time. The problem is, those patterns were formed by an uninformed mind.

And if not recognized and confronted when we reach adulthood, these patterns take a life of their own.
We become the pawn in a game we don't like and think there is no way out.

Barak Obama's life is one example of " there is a way out".

Could this happen as well in our own lives? Does this give you hope that your life is not destined to what your history dictates?

Contrary to the display of Christianity in the 21st century, focused on "sowing a seed" and "Bling Bling" theology - God sent Christ to give you a way out of the life that pronounces you "not worthy."

Jesus came not to limit you from fun by giving you a list of rules. He wants to show you what is possible when the world tells you differently.

Barak Obama and Joe Biden, thank you for living your examples out loud with courage and transparency so that we can see that "regular people" not born into wealth or using wealth as a crutch to avoid telling ourselves the truth, can actually hope for a better future.
Vote for hope knowing that change is possible.
It starts with you.

We want the Unedited Roberta McCain Back!

"They won't let me be interviewed," McCain lamented to the radio host who approached her Tuesday during the Republican convention in St. Paul. "They won't let me talk."

After being sequestered by the McCain Campaign for several months, Roberta McCain was allowed to speak to us again.

Yeah!

In case you aren't familiar with Roberta McCain, she is the feisty 96 year old mother of Republican Presidential candidate John McCain.

She was the only part of that campaign that was "off script."

Here are my favorite quotes:

When asked on a tv interview what she thought
of her son's Paris Hilton/Britney Ad against Obama,
Roberta had this to say:
" I think it's kinda stupid,"

In another interview earlier this year
Roberta gives her opinion on "Johnny's"
backing from the Republican party.

Here's part of the interview:

How much support do you think he has among the base of the republican party?

:: I don't think he has any. I don't know what the base -- maybe I don't know enough about it but I have not seen any help whatsoever.

:: So can he then go on and become the nominee of this party?

:: Yes. I think holding their nose they are going to have to take him. Now, i'm really popping off,
Pop off, Roberta! Pop off.

So imagine my excitement when I saw that Roberta was speaking last week.

I immediately sought quotes from her.

What I found instead, saddened me.

While addressing a group Roberta said:

His experiences (John McCain) in the military and in Washington, she said, prepare him for the Presidency and “there’s no on the job training with him.

Wait a minute!

What did you do with Roberta McCain?
Where is she?
We want her back.

Now they've reduced her to "talking points."

The " He doesn't need any on the job training" is a McCainism.

As if being president is like remembering to ride a bike or something.

What new position in life have you not needed some on the job training?

Even churches have membership classes to acclimate new members to church doctrine. Although
you may be Christian, processes at that specific church maybe different from where you've been before.

Try another one, McCain.

This is what I don't care for.

Why censure her because she tells the truth?

Don't we admire people that have the internal fortitude to tell-it-like-it-is
from the depths of who they are?

Authenticity is magnetic. Scripts are for actors.

And we don't need any more actors playing a part of "President of the United States."

We need a person who isn't afraid of exposing what's inside themselves.

A person who isn't afraid of being "off script" because they weren't on script in the first place.

A person, like Obama said, "we can trust that what we see is who he is all the time"

Let's reclaim our nation back from "bad scripts", and live like the nation we were founded to be.

A nation not afraid of embracing change.
A nation that demonstrates "sane" leadership.
A nation respected and loved by its citizens because we know
that our President has "all of our best interests" at heart.

Let's show the world that we're grown up and done "playing house."

Hope we can believe in!

Colin Powell : Obama Endorsement Criteria

Colin Powell crosses racial lines. His leadership standards and reputation echoes louder than nationality.

After reading his primer on the 18 qualities of leadership, I understand why America sees Colin Powell's endorsement as significant to electing the next President of the United States.

What I admired from yesterday's endorsement besides who he endorsed, was how he announced it.

He laid out what his selection process. Balanced and thought provoking, Colin Powell gives the America people, especially undecided voters, a template on making decisions.

His decision defies the refrain "Oh, he's voting for Obama because he's black." Colin Powell is voting for Sen Obama because he saw the steadiness America needs in the turbulent storm we've had over the last 8 years.

Let's learn a lesson from Colin Powell in decision making. This endorsement and decision to cross party lines had to be tough. Not only is John McCain a friend, but he's given his support to him as a republican.

This election must be looked at from an objective view point instead of an "US vs Them" mentality that's easy to fall in.

America is known for leadership and steadfastness in the eyes of other nations. Let's regain what our founding fathers aimed for when writing the Constitution.

Vote Obama change you can believe in... because he believes in you.

Rape is okay?

According to the compassionate
Phyllis Schlafly at a Bates College Address,

At one point, Schlafly also contended that married women cannot be sexually assaulted by their husbands.

"By getting married, the woman has consented to sex, and I don't think you can call it rape,"

Wow.

Well thanks Phyllis for your opinion. I'm glad that the courts make determinations on solid research from evidence rather than rhetoric. Great to know that as a woman, it appears you don't think much of yourself.

I've never heard of this woman before today. Is she for real?

And I am perplexed as to why she has such strong views against her own gender. Usually women such as myself or men who have been abused, have strong views on the topic because of our experience with Hell itself.

So I'm wondering, what happened in her life to help form her views.
Is it a stunt?

She's a walking contradiction. Phyllis cancels herself out.

For example,

While Schlafly said she has no problem with women raising a family and pursuing a professional career, she said they can't be done at the same time.
This particular address was given in 2007.

Yet, How is it Phyllis that you endorse Sarah Palain, who 3 days after giving birth went back to work, and is now running for the Vice Presidency.

"But this time we struck it rich," Schlafly said of picking Palin. "This time people are clamoring to get to our (Coalition for Life) party" because Palin is scheduled to speak. ( Beacon staff reporter)
Huh?

She voids her own convictions. Sarah is doing both right now (raising a family and career)

Which is it?

Phyllis's own mother supported her family during the depression when Phyllis's dad lost his job.

Is this some type of pain lashing out from that?

She was raised in St. Louis by a working mother who kept her family afloat after her husband lost his job in the Great Depression. She was encouraged to excel academically by both her parents, who, Critchlow writes, believed "their daughters should not be any less ambitious or educated than boys."
Where is Dr. Justin Frank when you need him?

Here's another quote from the Sun Journal Report of the Bates College Address:

" Schlafly asserted women should not be permitted to do jobs traditionally held by men, such as firefighter, soldier or construction worker, because of their "inherent physical inferiority."

I just realized something from her quotes which is rather sad.

When she talks about women, speaks as though she isn't a woman herself.

If I didn't know she was a woman, I could cover up her name and put a man's name in it's place and I wouldn't have to change anything about the quote.

She refers to women (while she is one herself) as "the woman", "their inherent inferiority."

Phyllis, I'm sorry for whatever happened to you that caused a career of mocking yourself. Bashing your gender, is bashing yourself.

There is no escaping that one.

I'll be praying for her.

America, will we heed the red flags?

The Proposal
Barack Obama and John McCain have both proposed to America.

One on bended knee. The other holding a big diamond ring in one hand while the other hand is held behind his back hiding his crossed fingers.

Meeting the Family
Some months back we were introduced to the extended family that would become our family if we accepted the proposal: The vice president nominees.

Joe Biden and Sarah Palin

America's Answer: November 4th 2008
America, we are entering a union that effects us for the next 4 years. If honor our own lives and the lives of the next generation, we will pay attention to the red flags flying before our faces instead of being dazzled by the big diamond ring.

Hidden Agenda: Red Flags
If you asked men and women who've escaped abusive relationships/ marriages what they would tell someone before getting married, you'll hear two common responses.

1. They saw red flags but ignored them because "nobody's perfect"
2. Pay attention to the extended family and their relationship with each other

In honor of domestic violence month, Part 1 of this series will deal with the red flags of abusers and why we ignore them.

Christians and BDSM says (website that deals with abusive behavior):
Unfortunately, abusers can also be very intelligent and charming and can often weave elaborate lies. Think of the serial killers we hear about on the news.
Dangerous leaders are charming and intelligent in order to lure you into their trap.

Where manipulation began
This pattern started In the garden of Eden when the serpent entered the garden and manipulated the vulnerabilities of Eve. By carefully asking questions and observing, he devised his method of attack.

Through his questions he found out two things:
Eve added to God's commandment
Adam's silence. He didn't correct the serpent or Eve.

Satan then proceeded to attack God (I believe he figured if they won't stand up for the truth they'll believe what I tell them about God)

So what method did he choose- an attack on God's character.

They believed Satan.

And you know the rest of the story.

Adam and Eve didn't know that Satan took residence within the serpent to disguise an agenda that served his own interests. One lie to cover his agenda, led to death and he didn't care.

Little White Lies
Lying is the manipulator's weapon of silent attack.

They hope you excuse the behavior because "Hey who doesn't twist the truth every now and then."

Here's the question:

Do they feel guilt about telling the lie?
Are they addressing how it affected the relationship?

The manipulator's conscience is quieted then destroyed by what they want to gain from you.
Since we want to believe the manipulator, we then silence our own conscience, and put our
lives in jeopardy.

This causes assault of the worse kind: Self-Betrayal. All for the sakes of wanting to believe something that we know deep down in our souls doesn't feel right.

Big Danger of Little Lies
Going back to the candidates that asked America's hand in marriage.

If John McCain lies about blowing off the David Letterman's show, what else will he lie about to get his way.

This really bothers me. Because its the small compromises in truth that destroy us in the end.

Practical Example:
While getting ready for a date, your significant other cancels at the last minute. It seems strange that your significant other suddenly has the urge to paint their home office. And today was the only day it could be done. Never mind the fact that this dinner was scheduled 1 month ago. Nevertheless, you accept their explanation.

Feeling uneasy about what happened, you decide to appear at your significant others house for a discussion. As you make a turn on their street, you see another car pull up at the house. This person is carrying dinner and kisses your significant other in the doorway as you look on.

Not only were you lied to, but your significant other is having dinner with someone else.

Your Decision
Do we excuse the deception and go on like nothing happened? Or do you realize that if your significant other is doing this before marriage, its a sign to get out before you accept the proposal?

America, we're faced with this decision.

We haven't accepted the proposal of marriage so we can honor ourselves by
rejecting lies which sends a message that we will not be disrespected and that
you have another suitor that honors you by telling the truth when it would be
easier to lie.

Be heard for change. Heed the red flags and make a stand!

What O.J Simpson, Paula White, and Larry Huch have in common

"How many licks to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?" asked the owl in this classic tv commercial.

My question to those who use abuse of power to rob the unsuspecting is " How much self deception does it take to sell your soul to work evil?"

At what point do you say, " Hey you know what its not hurting anybody. Besides, all I'm doing is pointing out what's in the Word of God."

Originally, my focus for this month to honor Domestic Violence was going to focus on known abusers of Domestic Violence. Then as I turn my television on, I heard voices saying " You can't come to God empty handed" and another say "That's right when you give $70 or more... "

Hoping this was some type of Saturday Night Live parody, I waited for my picture to get clearer to show the actors in the skit. Instead of Saturday Night Live, it was Paula White Today with Larry Huch. Here's the worst part about this parody: They make you believe its true.

If I am commenting on O.J. Simpson and his abuse, I must be fair and highlight when I see abuse in Leaders of the Christian community.

O.J. Simpson exposed his cards while riding in a white bronco, releasing a non confession kinda sorta book on murder, and now the latest conducting a "private sting operation."

His crimes are socially corrupt and readily punishable because they are recognizable and against the law.

What happens when you have a legalized "sting operation." That flies under the radar of "religion" so they don't get caught.

What makes their criminality of spiritual abuse (raping of the soul) more dangerous is their circle of influence that reach millions of viewers every week, hoping for some chance of God's "harvest" for release.

O. J. Simpson used guns for coercion in getting what he wanted, Paula White and Larry Huch use the weapon of out of context scripture forcing the unsuspecting to part with their "seed" in order to "open God's hand of blessing".

They make sure they also leave with what they came for: your money. Have you ever seen a show being done without asking for a "seed" to fit a "need".

I'd like to see them go a month without asking for any donations.

Well, Yukio Why are you coming down on them so hard, they are God's anointed?

I'm speaking from experience of being robbed by assault with a deadly weapon, an ill delivered word of God. Filling their pockets and emptying mine. The worst part about waking up to the shock of spiritual deception is the blatant betrayal of your soul.

Like most people who are lured by their message, I was desperate to see a harvest in my life. I looked at their life and wondered "Wow, they know exactly where I am."

More later...

O.J. Simpson: Justice God's Way

Right in time for Domestic Violence Month:
O.J. Simpson Guilty
Here's the irony: This verdict is 13 years to the exact date of him being found
not guilty for the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson. Just like on October 3, 1995 this jury took 13 hours as well.

October 3, 2008
Simpson Reaction:Guilty

God likes the number 3.

Domestic Violence is deadly. Executives, Sport Stars, Actors are not exempt from afflicting and exerting power over others. They just are able to get away with it more often.

Not Guilty- Simpson Reaction
October 3, 1995

Stay tuned for the rest of the month. I will break down the components of domestic violence for those who are suffering in silence right now. I am free because someone spoke up and believed me. God can rescue you. You are not alone!

You Deserve Freedom

No one deserves treatment that devalues you. When someone devalues you to a lesser person than they are, the next step is to see you as an animal, one to be taught a lesson. Trained and Maimed to bark and sit on command or you won't get a treat.

The next step is seeing you as less than an animal, an inanimate object. Hey, If I use this paper towel all I have to do is throw it away when it get dirty. This is the last stage before death.

Message for loved ones and those who are suffering in silence

Those of you suffering in silence or know someone who is: You were made for more than being someone object of fury. You think it your fault. Its not. If you have a loved one suffering in silence, don't lose hope the best thing you can do is let them know you love them and give not judgment. He or she has been judged enough and now they condemn themselves before the abuse even has a chance.

God can free you and life can get better. Its possible. I'm a living testimony that God through Christ Jesus made a way through the Rea Sea of impossibility and brought the waters crashing down on the accuser, making a stand for His daughter.

God loves you more! These words said by a counselor were hid in my heart and strengthened me until God made a way.

A Prayer

Thank you Lord for Justice your way in your time. Only you know what the intents and thoughts of our hearts are at any time. Even though 13 years ago the Goldman family mourned for an injustice, were mocked by the accuser, you triumph in the end. God give strength to those who need your power to escape. Give wisdom to family and friends to love without judgment and show your might on this earth, so all will know that God reigns. In the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

Joe Biden: Real Men Do Cry

Jesus Wept.

One of the shortest and most powerful verses in the Bible.

Why is this so important?
Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. Amen
What Jesus displayed shows the heart of our Heavenly Father.

Joe Biden portrayed this heart of compassion in last night's debate.

Compassion transcends gender.

In an age where any display in public is frowned upon, something happened struck the heart of American men and women alike: the show of paternal love.

I want people in the White House that can feel the afflictions that "average people" who don't have jets and trust funds feel. People who can look into your eyes and say "I've been there, and it's hell" and can feel your heart because they understand not because its a sound bite.

Aren't you tired of sound bite politics?
I am.

Think about it. How many times have you heard the phrase, "Real men don't cry." And so what happens, we take the well tattered hand me down phrase as truth. Throwing out the window the possibility that maybe its not true. Maybe the person who said this phrase didn't get the love they needed. So this phrase hung onto the rafters as a bullet proof vest to the soul.

Let's reverse the phrase.

What if real men do cry?

People with compassion running the nation will take you and I into consideration when making decisions for the country instead of protecting the "Enrons" of the world and realizing the devastating effect that hundreds of people lost their only pensions for their senior years because exploitation was protected instead of exposed.

Obama and Biden thank you for showing what real men with hearts can do for the climate of a chilled nation.

May God's love be with you and your families and may He give you strength in the face weeks to come. My prayers are with you.

Dancing in the Streets: Jamaican Pride

This has been Jamaica's greatest ever medal haul at the Games. The country its now planning the biggest ever welcome home party in its history but for now they are still dancing in the streets.
says the BBC News article about the celebration in the heart of Jamaica.

If you want to see true unity in action, look no further than Jamaica.
The article continues:
"The place to be was Half Way Tree, a busy traffic intersection and home to the country's main bus terminus.

It has become the place to watch the sporting action from Beijing in Jamaica and whenever any of the country's local heroes take to the field the reaction is electric."

Whenever any of their local athletes compete the country gathers for support.
Notice the article doesn't say:
  • the most popular athlete
  • the most talented athlete

Any of their local athletes.

As you can see, there is no hierarchy of importance to be deemed "celebration worthy".

How does this reaction differ from what you are used to?

Try going to your local governor's office and request a major downtown intersection
to be blocked off for a celebration.

When the governor's office asks you why, tell them its for celebrating your
son's peewee league.

What type of response do you think you'll get?

Get my point.

How can we celebrate those around us that we love?
What ways can we appreciate them today?

Which leads me to my favorite part of the article.

The poorest of the poor of Jamaica's citizens find a way to get in on the celebration:

The sight of Jamaica's women makes the crowd erupt. I spy the traditional instrument used to celebrate in the island's poor inner city communities, the Dutchie cover - the lids of two cooking pots banged together at full force.

Jamaica is dear to my heart as part of my heritage.

Jamaica's culture inspires joy in the midst of poor circumstances.

Their spirit erupts into joy and is expressed by any means necessary.

As you can see, the cooking lids banged together at full force.
Make no mistake about it. People embraced them, instead of shun them.

There's no shame.

I love that they didn't have to feel ashamed to celebrate with the means they had. In fact, it highlights a distinction of you are welcomed here flavor.

In the United States, if I went to a parade with lids to cooking pots, I might be escorted to the nearest facility for observation.

If we see someone that doesn't have the same make and year of car or status we look the other
way and find others to embrace who we can "identify" with.

Maybe this is where I get my heart for people who have talent inside of them and if given a chance and planted in a nurturing environment can blossom.

Jamaica I am proud of you! Keep dancing. There is more yet to come!

Todd Bentley : All spirits aren't created equal

I have held my tongue long enough on Todd Bentley. Then I ran across this video and had to comment.

For any seekers who were thinking of being a follower of Christ I want you to know this is not normal behavior. And if you have been frightened away by these events I don't blame you.
Please don't give up your search for the spiritual water of Jesus Christ. Contrary to the above video he will not kick you in the face and say, "Bam!"

In fact, Isaiah 42:3 tell us the nature of Jesus Christ :A bruised reed He will not break; And a dimly burning flax He will not extinguish;

Leg dropping a pastor to "get the revival going" does not qualify in the above verse.

Jesus did not heal people by banging legs up and down "like a baseball bat" when they
were crippled.

Isn't the idea to reverse the situation and not add to it?

I am all for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and I do believe they operate in the Church today.

Body of Christ, please discern the Holy Spirit for the sake of your soul.

The Gifts of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Kindness, Gentleness, Self-Control, Goodness, Faithfulness and Patience.

Casting out demons by choking people, kicking the elderly in the face with a bicker boot, and running people down don't quite fit the list above.

Unwanted Miracle Baby "Christ was there"

Meet precious Christela which means "Christ was there"

This story is a year old. But I just ran across it today for the first time and thank God that Jesus was there with her.

There are two victims in this story. Christela and the Baby's Mother.

I asked the same question as many did: How could a mother throw her 18 day old baby down an out house toilet that was 30 feet deep and leave her for dead?

Then I decided to think about it in a different way. What would cause a mother to do that? What pain was she in that she felt this was her only choice?

Two issues came across my mind as I read this story here is the first:

Christela’s birth mother is a juvenile from Marbial, a small village in the countryside, about 45 minutes from Jacmel. She was put out of her parents’ home when she became pregnant and she moved to Jacmel. A judge did sentence her to jail. Medically she is doing well.

1. The baby's mother was "Thrown away" and left for dead (so to speak). The mom was 15 years old at the time.

2. So the baby's mother did what was done to her baby away "Threw her away."

Thank the Lord that he looks out for us when we don't even realize it. A teenage boy followed a trail of blood to the outhouse toielt and rescued her. She was found "resting" with no scratches or bruises.

Let's pray for the family. Thank you Hands and Feet orphanage for looking after her.
God rewards those who love the forgotten of the world.
May God bless you.

Remembering Bernie Mac: Life Lessons

"The world just got a little less funny. He will be missed dearly." says friend George Clooney of Bernie Mac who died suddenly of Pneumonia.

Reading about his life brought to mind how much we miss seeing the whole picture of someone's life because of their fame.

We start thinking that his character consisted of only what we see on television.

While reading about Bernie Mac this morning I saw several things that can help what he brought to the world be continued.

I'm not referring to being a comedian. I speaking of the qualities that made up who he was and how he got there.

Mom Believed in Him

Mac's mother died of cancer when he was 16. In his book, Mac said she was a support for him and told him he would surprise everyone when he grew up.

"Woman believed in me," he wrote. "She believed in me long before I believed."

People in our life can effect us two ways: either to quench the fire that burns in our souls or fan the flame. His mother chose to fan the flame. It was that flame that kept his dream burning at times when the world seemed cold.

Estranged relationship with Father

Mac had only seen his dad about dozen times.

This where we could make a choice about the legacy we leave for our own families.

Do we follow the road of pain? Or do we set the foundation of a new legacy. He chose the latter.

His daughter described he as a great dad. In one of his books he described how he felt about being a dad and said he couldn't stop looking at her. He would wake up in the middle of the night just to see her face. He didn't understand how anyone would leave a child.

He broke a legacy that could have continued by making a choice to be a great dad to his daughter who was by his side when he died.

Husband for 30 years

His wife who was also at his side when he died said that he was

her best friend. They were together through the ups and downs of his career. What impressed me about his wife was from his autobiography. When they had to move into his grandfathers apartment he felt like a failure. He told his wife one night he was sorry. She told him that he didn't have to be sorry and that they were going to make it.

How awesome to see support in the midst of feeling humiliated. Impressive and true to self of Mac was being able in that time to be honest with what he was feeling with her. He spoke about trying to keep the poison of feeling like a failure from effecting his family, but it seeped out anyway. The important thing is that the end result was honesty to reality surrounded by the love of someone who believed in him.

Bernie Mac the Producer

Actress-comedienne Niecy Nash, who played Mac's sister on The Bernie Mac Show, recalls his knack for making fellow actors feel at home on the set.

"When I showed up to work, he said something to me that had never been said to me on a set before," she says. "He said, 'Baby girl, the script here is not the Bible. Do you, and I'll follow. I got mine, you get yours.' When he said that, I knew everything was going to be all right. I was happy to have the freedom to make up some funny with him. It was simply delicious."

Adds Nash, "My working experiences with Bernie were so amazing, that from that point on, I wouldn't have cared if he called me in the middle of the night to come and be in a scene where I didn't have anything to do but sit in the background and eat cereal. I would've just done it because I loved him like that."

What I loved about this focus on his life was how he related to his fellow actors. God used this quote from the actress to impress on my heart what Biblical Submission looks like. Whether it is in marriage, career, etc.

I cringed when I looked at the word submission. It reminded me of when I was told by clergy to submit to an abusive spouse because "God hates divorce."

That's until I met the true God of the Bible for myself and found a Church that shows his character with truth and Grace. Like God intends.

Going back to the Bernie Mac example, He gave this new actress a gift that seals submission: freedom and kindness.

Notice Niecy Nash's response - "I wouldn't have cared if he called me in the middle of the night to come and be in a scene where I didn't have anything to do but sit in the background and eat cereal."

True submission personified!

Authenticity Need Only Apply

Bernie Mac refused succumbing to altering his personality for television.

Bernie Mac is a comedian that refused to change his image for Hollywood and says that his life in Chicago is who he is and there is nothing that will change that.

The TV and film industries of the 1980’s were not interested in Mac;

While success was a long time coming, he is now a household name.

Mac said: "I'm not a star, and I don't want to be a star. Stars fall. I'm an ordinary guy with an extraordinary job."

He traveled a road that many of us try to hop and skip over today: building his success while shaping his character. Many times we fall prey to movies like the secret that tell us that all we have to do is imagine this and that and poof- out comes millions of dollars. I got swept up in this whirlwind for a quick second. Knowing you have a desire in your heart that you feel its fire with no place to release the heat. This primes us ready for two options: Marketers that know you want to make money and live the life of your dreams so they cater to your needs without fulfilling their promises. I reaped the consequences of a promise failed and off to the next victim they go a little richer and you a little poorer in both funds and hope.

Back to the story, Mac allowed his character to shape his career. He didn't form a television persona to project to the world based on "trends" he set the trend. God didn't make any two of us a like. Yet in our society we strive to be the same while profession individuality.

True success is driven by God with laser focus on his will. No one can take that away from you. Society ebbs and flows on trends. God remains the same yesterday today and forever. Amen.

Last Words from this Bernie Mac Brief:

"I came from a place where there wasn't a lot of joy," Mac told the AP in 2001. "I decided to try to make other people laugh when there wasn't a lot of things to laugh about."

What broken things from our past can we give to God today through Christ that can be turned to glorify him in the earth? Start today. And live fully.

God is Jealous for you Oprah

Earlier this year someone sent me a video of Oprah saying she heard a pastor once say that God is a Jealous God. She didn't understand why God would be jealous of her.

Hearing that sermon caused her to fall away from church and away from Christ.

Can you blame her?

If I heard a Pastor say that God was Jealous of me, I would run too!

While listening to this song, I thought of Oprah and all those who understood that verse in the say way. The song is called "He loves Me."

Before you listen to the song, let's clear up the explanation of that phrase. The NLT translation of the Bible does a nice job of teasing out the meaning.

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. Exodus 20:5-NLT
He loves you so much that it breaks his heart to see His children straying away and devoting attention to other gods who want to only hurt you. He just wants to love you.

My hope for you is to encounter the love of God by meeting Jesus Christ. He gave up His life you so could spend the rest of your life experiencing the love he had planned for you since before the earth began.

Mary Winkler : God restores Custody and Hope For the Abused

Nobody would believe me," remarked Mary Winkler "And they’d take the girls away and put me away.”

Mary, God believes you.

God also forgives you and loves you.

Thank you for continuing your fight to get your family back together so that God can
restore and heal your lives.

Know that communities of abused women around the world stand with you.

Enjoy the Grace that God gives through his Son Jesus Christ and accept his Love.

Mary, you are a courageous woman of God. Through all of the negative poison highlighted by the media about who you are, God gets the final answer and that's all that matters.

God grace is larger than your painful past and big enough to carry you through
the future.

There is hope for you!

Blessings to you!

Better is One Day in Your Presence God

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Psalms 84:10 (NIV)

You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalm 41:12
In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.

Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Psalm 61:7
May he be enthroned in God's presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.

Psalm 102:28
The children of your servants will live in your presence; their descendants will be established before you.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

Let my judgment come forth from Your presence;

The Bible and Ice Cream?

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalms 19

Have you tasted the sweetness of God's Word for yourself?

King David compared God's Word to honey saying it's sweeter than a honeycomb.

I don't know about you, but I've never tasted a honey comb.

But I dig some Cookies and Cream Ice Cream.

If anyone knows what God's Word does for a person David would know.
He wrote one of the most famous passages of the Bible while hiding
for people wanting to kill him.

But yet, he saw God's word as refreshing.

Do you need some refreshment today?

God has the answer you need!

Shout God's Fame- Living a Life of Worship

What's with all this craze of worship?

Worship of the Lord fills stadiums, homes, churches, and hearts with
joy and hope.

Some ridicule this present day worship to God, calling it secular and non-biblical.

The bible has an answer for critics who attack the worshipper for their
style of worship to God. It comes from 2 Samuel when King David
brings back the ark of the covenant back to it's home.

King David leads the procession rejoicing and dancing with boldness
in front of the Lord "with all his might."

Not everyone liked this display from a King with his status, namely his wife Michal.
All she saw was her husband dancing, shamelessly in front of "peasant girls."

Later that day when David met with his wife Michal she voiced her contempt and
disgust for how her husband appeared.

David answered like the man after God's own heart " I dance because of what God has done for me and I will be even more foolish in my own eyes to praise God"- paraphrased

What has God done for you that causes you praise like David?

These worshippers have an intimate experience that's between them and God.

Maybe we have to cast our crowns of pride and bow before the throne of Grace
before we can experience the wonders of His goodness.

I say praise on! Let the world know "How great is our God."

He is knocking at your door because he has a gift that can quench the
desert of your soul, so that you will never thirst again.

Answer your door today. He will never turn you away. After experiencing the
taste of God, you won't turn him loose either.
